ZINC AND LEAD PRODUCTION DURING APRIL-AUGUST

Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (HZL) and Binani Industries Ltd. (BIL) produced 1,05,720 tonnes of zinc during April-August, 2003 against 93,910 tonnes during the same period last year. Out of this HZL with 49.92 per cent government of India equity produced 93,286 tonnes and private sector BIL contributed 12,434 tonnes. During the month of August 2003 HZL produced 18,391 tonnes against a target of 19,204 tonnes and BIL 2,775 tonnes against the target of 2750 tonnes. During April-August 2003 HZL produced 14, 981 tonnes of lead and in the month of August 3,086 tonnes.
