GOLD PRODUCTION EXCEEDS TARGET

The production of Gold in the country during April-October 2003 has been 4941.369 Kgs. against 1687.50 kgs. produced during the same period last year. The target was to produce 4,476.959 kgs. during the period.

After closure of Bharat Gold Mines Ltd. (BGML), Hutti Gold Mines Ltd. (HGML) is the only unit processing Gold from ore stage. Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL – A public sector undertaking) and Hindustan Aluminium Company Ltd. (HINDALCO) process Gold as a by-product while processing copper.

HGML produced 218.586 kgs. of Gold during October, 2003 whereas HCL produced 16 kgs. and HINDALCO 559 kgs. of Gold during the same period.
