PRODUCTION OF ZINC AND LEAD IN APRIL-OCTOBER 2003

Total production of primary zinc in the country during April-October 2003 has been 1,47,406 tonnes against 1,32,743 tonnes produced during the same period last year. The target was to produce 1,50,851 tonnes during this period.

Similarly, total production of lead during April-October, 2003 has been 20,603 tonnes against 23,395 tonnes produced during the same period last year. The target was to produce 21,324 tonnes during this period.

Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (HZL), with 49.92% Government of India equity, produced 18,046 tonnes of primary Zinc and 3,188 tonnes of lead during October 2003. Binani Industries Ltd. (BIL) produced 2,600 tonnes of Zinc during the same period.
