COPPER PRODUCTION EXCEEDS TARGET
IN APRIL-OCTOBER, 2003
The total Copper
cathode production in the country during April-October, 2003 has
been 2,29,107 tonnes against 2,16,476 tonnes during the same period
last year. It exceeds the target of 2,18,427 tonnes for the period.
Out of the total production the public sector Hindustan Copper
Ltd. (HCL) produced 18,029 tonnes, Private sector Hindustan Aluminium
Company Ltd. (HINDALCO) 1,03,627 tonnes and Sterlite Industries
(India) Ltd. (SIL) 1,07,451 tonnes.
During October
2003 the total production of copper has been 35,224 tonnes against
a target of 32,451 tonnes. Out of this HCL produced 2,409 tonnes,
HINDALCO 18,311 tonnes and SIL 14,504 tonnes. Total installed
annual capacity of Copper production in the country is 3,62,500
tonnes.
