ALUMINIUM PRODUCTION EXCEEDS TARGET
IN APRIL-OCTOBER 2003
The production of
Aluminium metal in the country during April-October, 2003 has
been 4,79,897 tonnes against 3,82,917 tonnes during the same period
last year. The target was to produce 4,79,459 tonnes during the
period.
During April-October
2003 public sector National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) produced
1,73,866 tonnes against a target of 1,65,150 tonnes and Bharat
Aluminium Company Ltd. (BALCO) with 49 per cent Central Government
equity produced 56,678 tonnes against the target of 58,100 tonnes.
The private sector Hindustan Aluminium Company Ltd. (HINDALCO)
contributed 1,92,771 tonnes, Indian Aluminium Company Ltd. (INDAL)
37,997 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Ltd. (MALCO) 18,585
tonnes.
During the month
of October, total production of Aluminium metal was 78,907 tonnes
against a target of 70,367 tonnes. NALCO exported 37,539 tonnes
of Alumina and 9,747 tonnes of Aluminium during the month. The
installed annual capacity of Aluminium production in the country
is 8,40,000 tonnes.
