DEFENCE INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT


Shri Vijai Kapoor, Lt Governor of Delhi had suggested that the Armed Forces personnel should be allowed to go to corporate sector for a period of four to five years to get the necessary management and technical experience. Addressing a national seminar on Defence Industry Partnership in Human Resources Management jointly organised by Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defence and Confederation of Indian Industries here today he said this will benefit both the industry and the armed forces. Shri Kapoor said highly disciplined and trained manpower is available amongst our ex-defence personnel in diverse disciplines such as information technology, engineering, electrical, mechanical engineering, administration, management, aviation and medicine. He further said that over 60,000 officers and men retire every year at very early age. These Armed Forces personnel have been trained in the best institutions of the country and abroad and form a formidable human resource, readily available to the Industry for absorption.

Earlier Major General VS Budhwar, Director General Resettlement, delivering the opening address said that unlike other professions, personnel in the defence forces retire at much younger age keeping in view organizational needs. Almost 80 % retiring personnel are below 35 years of age. This well trained and economically productive human resource are an asset to our nation and can contribute significantly in Nation building, if optimally utilized. Referring to value system in the Armed Forces, General Budhwar said that the core value system of loyalty, selfless sacrifice, integrity, courage and honour besides good order and discipline imbued in Armed Forces will hold good for any organisation that is result oriented.

On this occasion Directorate General Resettlement, Ministry of Defence also launched their website in association with Jobs Ahead www.jobsahead.com/dgr. Speaking on the occasion Chief Executive Officer of the Jobsahead.com Mr. Puneet Dalmia said understanding the limitless skilled contribution that ex-defence personnel can make in a competitive global economy, his company has partnered DGR, Ministry of Defence in the initiative of launching an exclusive website. He further added that the website will enable Corporate World to access a pool of qualified manpower round the clock.

Lieutenant General A Natarajan, Adjutant General, Army Headquarters Mr. S Sen, Deputy Director General, CII, and Senior Managers of Human Resources Department of different companies also addressed the gathering.
