AAHAR’ 2003 BEGINS ON MARCH 9


The 18th International Exhibition for Food, Food Processing, Hotel and Restaurant Equipment and Supply-Aahar 2003-will be inaugurated on March 9, 2003 at Pragati Maidan, (Hall No,.14&18) by Shri N.T. Shanmugam, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries. This is being organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) with close association and support of Ministry of Food Processing Industries and APEDA. A large number of companies involved in processing as well as exporting food products from India and abroad will participate to display their products. This fair has emerged as the single largest event of its kind in India for promoting food processing, restaurant and hotel equipment machinery for giving a fillip to the export efforts.

Aahar fair provides a forum to the investors, entrepreneurs and consumers for projecting the scope available especially in food processing sector as the event showcases latest technology for modernisation of this key sector of economy. This also provides an opportunity to the food and processed food sectors to enhance their competitiveness and promote trade and investment opportunities.

This year Aahar Exhibition is expected to cover an area of more than 5000 sq. mt. in Pragati Maidan. An area of 4000 sq. mt. have been sold to 106 participants excluding constituents of APEDA. USA will participate with 8 participants in an area of 96 sq. mt. Efforts are being made to attract more participation from India as well as abroad. During Aahar 2002, 235 companies participated in an area of 4900 sq. mt. Out of this 95 per cent has shown their interest for repeated participation.
