It is a fact that
India is keen on diversification of weapon suppliers and joint
co-production ventures. To generate competition and have access
to appropriate technology, the vendor base is determined for
each case and is not restricted to a selected few. Wherever
feasible the option of joint production with selected vendors
is also considered to facilitate induction of new technology
and make possible third country sales.
This information
was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a
written reply to Shri Dalpat Singh Parste in Lok Sabha today.
