Laboratories, Bangalore has developed an all composite two-seat
training aeroplane "Hansa-3" and is in the process
of developing a 14-seat Light Transport Aircraft "SARAS".
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is preparing jointly with
its Russian partners a detailed project report for co-design,
development and production of a multi-role transport aircraft
of 100 seater passenger / 15-20 ton cargo capacity. After preparation
of a detailed project report, this will be submitted to Government
for consideration. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has no programme
for development of higher capacity jets for civil aviation.
This information
was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a
written reply to Shri YV Rao in Lok Sabha today.
