A National Workshop
on Policy Framework for Land Resource Management is being organized
by the Ministry of Rural Development in collaboration with Agricultural
Finance Corporation on 7-8th March 2003 at New Delhi.

Patil will inaugurate the workshop.
The purpose of
the workshop is to review and develop policies to support the
best possible use of land and the sustainable management of
land resources, to improve and strengthen planning, management
and evaluation systems for land and the associated resources
and to create mechanisms to facilitate the active involvement
and participation of all concerned, particularly people at the
local level, in decision making on land use and management.
It will also provide a platform for increased Government – NGO
interaction.
The discussion
will cover a variety of subjects in the land resource management
such as land classification, master plan for development of
waste lands and to focus upon the capacity building activities
in training for effective implementation of land resource policies.
