Identification of potential sites for new thermal power projects is an on-going process in the NTPC. A site near Mouda in Nagpur district of Maharashtra has been, prima facie, identified by NTPC for a 1000 MW (2x500 MW) thermal power project for conducting a pre-feasibility study. Coal supply to the project is envisaged from Western Collieries Ltd./ Coal India Ltd.

This information was given by Smt. Jayawanti Mehta, Minister of State for Power in a written reply to a question by Dr. Akhilesh Das in Rajya Sabha today.
