ADDITIONAL CENTRAL ASSISTANCE TO KARNATAKA FOR RURAL
DRINKING WATER
Ministry of Rural
Development has released Rs.600 lakh to the State Government of
Karnataka towards additional Central assistance to meet the rural
drinking water supply requirement arising due to drought situation
in the State during 2003-2004. This assistance is provided out
of the 5% of the total Central Rural Water Supply Outlay earmarked
for contingencies arising due to natural calamities/disaster.
These funds must
be utilised for (i) Hydro-fracturing of 1000 bores, (ii) Deepening
of 1000 existing borewells, (iii) Flashing/desilting of 2000 borewells
and (iv) Deepening/rejuvenation of 2000 open wells. These funds
are released on 100% central share basis in relaxation of ARWSP
Guidelines.
