150 YEARS OF RAILWAYS

Indian Railways spent
a sum of Rs. 790.27 lakhs for celebrations of its 150th
year.
Railways’ 150th
year of service to the nation was an occasion to share the pride
with all segments of rail users all over the country. The role
and contribution of the Railways as the lifeline of the nation,
as an instrument of industrial development of various regions
and above all, as a part of the common man’s life, needed to be
recognized by the entire nation. The objectives were fully met.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Bandaru Dattatraya
in a written reply to a question from S/Shri R.K. Parthasarathi
and Gunipati Ramaiah in the Lok Sabha today.
