CAPACITY ADDITION OF BIDADI GAS
POWER STATION IN KARNATAKA
Government of Karnataka
has moved to upgrade the Bidadi gas power station as mega project
with a 1400 MW capacity. Government of Karnataka have informed
that sale of power to the Power Trading Corporation of India Ltd.
(PTC) is one of the options being examined by them towards fulfillment
of the criteria for mega project status. The possibility of sale
of power from the project of PTC would, however, depende, inter-alia,
on the quantum of power that the State of Karnataka would be able
to absorb, the surplus availabile for sale through PTC, competitiveness
of the tariff and ability of other buyer States to provide suitable
payment security mechanism.
Government of Karnataka
have informed that completion of the project is likely by 31st
January, 2007.
This information
was given by Smt. Jayawanti Mehta, Minister of State for Power
in a written reply to a question by Shri Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi in
Lok Sabha today.
