MAJ. GEN. (RETD.) B.C. KHANDURI, AVSM TAKES OVER ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT MINISTRY

Maj. Gen. (Retd.) B.C. Khanduri, AVSM Minister for Road Transport and Highways, took over additional charge of the Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation here today. He was received at Nirman Bhawan by the Minister of State for Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan, Secretary (Urban Development) Shri N.N. Khanna and Secretary (UEPA) Shri L.M. Mehta.

Later, the Minister was introduced to the senior officials of the Ministry and its attached offices. He was briefed about various schemes and programmes of the Ministry of Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation. A presentation showing an over all view of the urbanization scenario in the country and urban reform programmes undertaken by the Ministry was also given.

Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Khanduri remarked that because the Urban Development Ministry deals directly with the people, it has a formidable task before it. He hoped that all officials of the Ministry will work in unison to achieve the desired goals.
