port facility at the inner harbour of Visakhapatnam Port on the
Bay of Bengal with integrated handling and storage facilities
for bulk export of alumina and import of caustic soda lye. Ships
up to 35,000 dwt cargo holding capacity can be berthed here. Alumina
from Damanjodi is received by rails in special tanker wagons owned
by the company. The mechanical unloading system can handle wagons
from two parallel sidings simultaneously at the rate of 2200 tonnes
per hour. With storage facility upto 75,000 tonnes and ship-loading
rate of 2200 tonnes per hour, this gateway to overseas market
can reliably handle export of about one million tonnes of alumina
per annum.
