VSP'S Q-I TURNOVER RS. 1055 CRORE


Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), a public sector undertaking of the Steel Ministry has achieved a record sales turnover of Rs. 1055 crore during the first quarter which is the best ever first quarter turnover since inception and shows a growth of 11 per cent over the corresponding period of 2002-03 (Rs.948 crore). This includes domestic sales of Rs. 946 crore and exports of Rs. 109 crore. It is likely to earn a net profit of over Rs. 160 crore (provisional) during this quarter, registering a seven fold increase from the first quarter profit of last year i.e. Rs. 23 crore.

The plant produced 10,29,924 tonnes of hot metal, 8,79,116 tonnes of liquid steel, 8,27,134 tonnes of cast blooms, 4,88,800 tonnes of billets, 1,93,716 tonnes of bars, 2,28,456 tonnes of MMSM products, 7,48,568 tonnes of saleable steel and 1,72,217 tonnes of special steel during the first quarter which are also the best ever first quarter performance. This corresponds to a growth of 10 per cent in hot metal, 9 per cent in liquid steel and 3 per cent in saleable steel over the first quarter of last financial year. On the techno-economic front also VSP has achieved its best during the quarter.
