MORE THAN 27% INCREASE IN TOURIST
ARRIVAL IN JUNE
Foreign tourist arrival
during June this year has registered 27.5% increase over the arrivals
in June, 2002. During the month 144860 foreign tourists visited
the country. During the year till June, total arrival has recorded
11.6% increase. During January to June more than 12.55 lakh tourists
visited India in comparison to 11.25 lakhs visitors in the corresponding
period of 2002.
During January-June,
2003, foreign exchange earnings also registered about 14.5% increase
over the earnings of corresponding period of last year. Exact
arrival and foreign exchange earnings were as follow:
