MILLENNIUM RAIL COACHES TO BE INTRODUCED IN NEW DELHI-MUMBAI RAJDHANI
EXPRESS
Coaches of the
Millennium, precisely known as the state-of-the art most luxurious
coaches built indigenously at Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala under
technology transfer agreement with ALSTOM-LHB of Germany were
stationed at Safdarjung station for a preview by Media today.
These coaches comprising AC first, AC second, AC three-tier were
shown to the Media.
The salient features
of the super luxury coaches were explained by two Additional Members
of the Railway Board, Shri M.Z. Ansari and Shri V.K. Bhargav.
They said that these coaches were safe, fire retardant, spacious
and light weight with high speed.
These coaches forming
a rake will be first introduced in Mumbai-New Delhi Rajdhani Express
in August 2003. The second such rake in the Rail Coach Factory,
Kapurthala is expected to be ready by this month. It is in the
final stage of manufacturing.
The existing rakes
of all Rajdhani Express trains will be replaced by coaches of
the millennium and later all trains would have these coaches.
