RS. 2444 LAKH RELEASED FOR RURAL
HOUSING TO FOUR STATES
The Ministry of Rural
Development has released Rs. 2444 lakh as centre’s share under
Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) for rural housing to West Bengal, Jharkhand,
Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Amravati district
of Maharashtra gets Rs. 164 lakh, Gondia – Rs. 91 lakh, Kohlapur
– Rs. 243 lakh, Nasik – Rs. 287 lakh and Sangli gets Rs. 100 lakh
as second instalment for the year 2002-03.
Out of the total
amount of Rs. 159 lakh released to three districts of Jharkhand,
Deoghar gets Rs. 24 lakh, Dhanbad – Rs. 125 lakh and Koderma gets
Rs. 9 lakh as second instalment for rural housing.
An amount of
Rs. 55 lakh has been released to Narmada district of Gujarat State
as second instalment.
Out of Rs. 1342
lakh released to West Bengal, Burdwan district gets Rs. 279 lakh
and Jalpaiguri receives Rs. 1062 lakh as second instalment.
The expenditure
on the implementation of the rural housing programme is to be
shared on 75:25 basis between the Centre and the State respectively.
The grants are towards the Plan expenditure and will be utilized
for approved items of works subject to the conditions laid down
in the guidelines under Indira Awaas Yojana. The concerned State
Governments should release their share within one month of the
date of release of the Central Assistance.
