The Information and
Broadcasting Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj has asked the Publications
Division to see that the Reference Annual ‘India’ published by
the Publications Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
every year is also published in eleven Indian languages other
than English and Hindi. Releasing the India – 2003 (English) and
Bharat – 2003 (Hindi), Smt. Swaraj said that the book enjoys great
credibility and is well known for its authenticity. The book is
in great demand and its availability in regional languages will
be of great value to people, especially the students and research
scholars all over the country. Complementing the Publications
Division and the Research and Reference Division for bringing
out the Reference Book for the first time on the very first day
of the year, she said that the Division is making valuable books
available at reasonable prices.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Pawan Chopra said
that the Publications Division was engaged in very productive
work and the Ministry has got a number of requests from other
Ministries requesting that DPD should publish periodicals on their
behalf. The Director, Publications Division, Shri P. S. Bhatnagar
said that the DPD is bringing out biographies of great Indians
in the series ‘Builders of India’.
