SAIL PRODUCES 8.77 LAKH TONNES SALEABLE STEEL IN NOVEMBER


The Steel Plants of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a public sector undertaking of the Steel Ministry have produced 8.77 lakh tonnes of saleable steel in November 2002, achieving 97 per cent of the target. During the month, Bhilai Steel Plant produced 2.8 lakh tonnes, Durgapur 1.26 lakh tonnes, Rourkela 1.3 lakh tonnes and Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) 3 lakh tonnes. BSL has achieved 110 per cent of its target followed by Durgapur 97 per cent, Rourkela 96 per cent and Bhilai 90 per cent.

During the period April-November 2002 SAIL plants have produced 67.89 lakh tonnes of saleable steel. Out of this Bhilai has produced 22.77 lakh tonnes, Bokaro 22.09 lakh tonnes, Durgapur 9.94 lakh tonnes and Rourkela 9.42 lakh tonnes. During this period Indian Iron & Steel Company Limited (IISCO) have produced 1.91 lakh tonnes. The rest have been contributed by ASP, SSP and VISL.
