The
Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has blacklisted 54
Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) in ten states during the
last three years and grants-in-aid stopped to them. The Social
Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya stated
this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today. He said that
24 of them are in Uttar Pradesh, 11 in Andhra Pradesh, 10 in
Maharashtra, two each in Gujarat and Karnataka and one each
in Delhi, Goa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Dr. Jatiya
said that reasons for blacklisting included non-existence of
the NGO or project or institution, adverse report of the inspecting
officer, unsatisfactory performance and forged/ fake recommendation
of state government.
