I&B MINISTER URGES MAGAZINES TO HELP BRIDGE INFORMATION GAP

The Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad has called upon the magazines and periodicals to sensitize their readers to inculcate an instinct to develop. He said the magazines have a great role to play in this direction as they have a greater shelf life as compared to newspapers. The newspaper is a daily occurrence while the magazines is a companion, he said.

Shri Prasad was speaking after launching the newly formed Association of Indian Magazines, here today. He said, there is a great dichotomy so far as the availability of information to the people is concerned. He said some sections of the population are saturated with information, while a vast majority is starved of information. How can we bridge this gap? If we have to grow as a nation the reform has to take place. How can we motivate the people to creativity, the Minister posed the question to the magazine barons.
