Under its Plan
Scheme for Technology Upgradation/Establishment and Modernisation
of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of Food Processing Industries
provides assistance for creation of additional facilities for
preservation and processing of fish. Under this Scheme, financial
assistance in the form of grant-in-aid is provided to all implementing
agencies, including private entrepreneurs at 25% of the cost
of capital equipment and technical civil works up to Rs. 50
lakhs in general areas and 33.33% of the capital equipment and
technical civil works upto Rs. 75 lakhs in difficult areas.
The grant-in-aid
sanctioned during 2001-2002 under the schemes for Development
of Infrastructure for Processing of Fish was Rs. 268.74 lakhs
against Rs. 92.69 lakhs in 2000-2001 and Rs. 60.28 lakhs in
1999-2000.
