India’s foodgrains
stock is sufficient to meet the requirement of public distribution
system and exports, said Shri Sharad Yadav, Minister of Consumer
Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.Releasing a compilation
of proceedings of the second International Wheat Seminar on
"wheat and wheat products—global perspectives" here
today, the minister said that a need was felt to release stocks
of foodgrains for exports also after meeting the requirement
of PDS and other welfare schemes.
India exports
wheat and wheat products to 30 countries and rice to 47 countries

do still better by highlighting the quality of Indian wheat
for their various end uses by providing the scientific data
to international buyers and by adopting better marketing techniques,

recommendations of the seminar would go a long way in promoting
the use of wheat and wheat products in the country and the world.
