Satellite imagery,
aerial photography and multi-sensor aerial surveys have been
successfully used as a supporting tool for locating suitable
structures favourable for mineral deposits in the country.
Remote sensing
data and airborne surveys followed by field checks have resulted
in locating lead and zinc in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, Copper
in Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Maharastra, Gold in Karnataka and
Orissa and Zine in Maharastra.
