AUGMENTATION OF RAIL SERVICES DURING SUMMER


The Ministry of Railways has given approval to Zonal Railways for running summer specials and augmenting of existing train services to tackle the extra rush of passengers during the coming summer. Accordingly, Central Railway will run 24 summer specials, Eastern Railway eight summer special, Northern Railway four, Northeast Frontier Railway four, Southern Railway 27, South Eastern Railway eight, Western Railway 24 and North Western Railway two.

All the summer specials will run on daily, bi-weekly, tri-weekly and four days a week basis, the details of which will be announced by respective Zonal Railways.

In addition, the Zonal Railways will augment train services during this summer . Central Railway will augment 19 trains by adding extra coaches followed by Eastern Railway 12 trains, Northeast Frontier Railway eight trains and South Eastern Railway 18 trains.

Both the summer specials and the augmented train services shall operate between early April and end of June or until the first week end of July this year.

The Western Railway, Mumbai has been directed to publish All India Summer Railway Time Table comprising all Zonal Railways which will be priced at Rs.5/- per copy and will be a handy reference book for rail users.

The Zonal Railways have also been asked to finalise other details like intermediate quota, the timings and stoppages of intermediate stations for approval of the Government in the Ministry of Railways.
