FUNDS TO MAHARASHTRA , TAMILNADU
AND MADHYA PRADESH FOR COMPUTERISATION OF LAND RECORDS
Ministry of Rural
Development has released funds to the State governments of Maharashtra,
Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh under centrally sponsored scheme
for Computerisation of Land Records. Maharashtra gets Rs.457.50
lakh, Tamil Nadu – Rs.406.50 lakh and Madhya Pradesh gets Rs.542.50
lakh for computerisation of land records.
A Scheme for Computerization
of Land Records was launched in 1998-89 with 100% financial assistance
from Government of India with the main objective of providing
computerized copies of the Record of Rights (RORs) to the landowners
at nominal rates on demand. At present, the scheme is being implemented
in 582 districts in the country. Funds have also been provided
to States/Union Territories for installation of hardware and software
in 2787 tehsils/Talukas/blocks. Since inception of the scheme,
Rs.274 crores have been released to the States/Union Territories
for implementation of the Scheme.
