IMPACT OF US-IRAQ WAR ON PRICES OF CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS
While the average C&F price of prilled urea
from Arabian Gulf started firming up from last week of January
2003 and reached from $ 140 per MT to $ 173 per MT just prior
to Iraq war, this price came down to $ 170 per MT during the war
period. However, this has further come down in the month of April
2003. On the other hand, the average C&F price of DAP has
gone up from $ 225 per MT prior to Iraq war to $ 228-229 per MT
during the war period (Source – Fertilizer Marketing Bulletin
published on weekly basis).
There has been no impact of price variation
of international market on all the major chemical fertilizer in
Indian market as the selling price/maximum retail prices (MRPs)
of these fertilizers namely urea, DAP, MOP and complex grade are
uniformally fixed/notified by the Government applicable for all
over the country.

State for Chemicals & Fertilizers, Dr. Chhattrapal Singh,
in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
