CENTRAL ASSISTANCE TO STATES FOR
EXPANSION OF FISHERIES
The
Government has released an assistance of Rs. 15264.71 lakh to
the States and Union Territories during the last three years under
various schemes and programmes for development and expansion of
fisheries. Of this, the maximum assistance of Rs.2775.51 lakh
has been provided to Tamil Nadu. During the current financial
year, a provision of Rs.52 crore has been made for extending Central
assistance to States and Union Territories for development of
fisheries.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Agriculture, Shri Hukumdeo
Narayan Yadav, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha
today.
