CONCESSION IN RAIL FARES TO DOCTORS
In order to ensure
that only genuine Doctors get concession, they are required to
submit photo copy of MBBS degree and registration certificate
for availing concession. Since this concession has been granted
with a view that the Doctors will render medical assistance to
needy passengers during journey, they are required to carry certain
essential medicines/equipment during journey. No threat of penal
action has been given but if the Doctor, traveling on concession
refuses to render medical assistance, the matter will be brought
to the notice of Indian Medical Association.
The matter was discussed
with medical fraternity before it was introduced.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Bandaru Dattatraya
in a written reply to a question from Shri Shriprakash Jaiswal
in the Lok Sabha today.
