HIGH GRADE IRON ORE BOULDERS RECOVERED FROM DUMPS
During the inspection
of Khond bond Iron Ore mines of M/s TISCO in Keonjhar district
of Orissa, Geological Survey of India (GSI), a public sector undertaking
of the Mines Ministry observed that large size boulders of rich
iron ore were found dumped alongwith the mine waste. The management
was advised to separate the high-grade boulders and issued violation
letter accordingly for separate dumping of waste from mineralised
boulders. The lessee recovered 288 cubic meter of high grade iron
ore containing boulders.
The geologists
of GSI inspected Sirigao iron ore mines of M/s Chougule &
Co Pvt Ltd in North Goa district in connection with the examination
of mining scheme. It was noticed that sizeable quantity of reserves
have been blocked in the common boundary. On GSI advice the party
accepted the proposal and recalculated the blocked reserve to
the tune of 1.78 million tonnes worth Rs. 8 crore available for
mining.
