BHILAI STEEL PRODUCES 100 MM ROUNDS
The Blooming and
Billet Mill of the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has started commercial
production of rounds of 100 mm diameter. This is a major step
by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) for its flagship
unit towards new product development.
All modifications
made at the mill for its production were designed, fabricated
and commissioned in-house. Besides, execution of a conveyorisation
project, which would have cost the company Rs. 5.6 crore if outsourced,
has been completed in-house at a cost of only Rs. 1 crore. The
massive work of conveyorising a length of 1.2 km matched all quality
standards.
