DPD TO PUBLISH COLLECTED WORKS OF DEEN DAYAL UPADHAYA


The Publications Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would bring out Complete Works of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya. This was announced by the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Smt. Sushma Swaraj at a function organized for the release, here today, of biography of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya written by former MP, Dr. Mahesh Chander Sharma and published by the Publications Division. Smt. Swaraj said Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya was a great thinker and believed in ‘complete humanism’. He practiced what he preached and believed that nation is not a piece of land but a living being. He believed that if even one person is poor and exploited in the country the entire nation should feel the pain Smt. Swaraj said.

Releasing the book, the Human Resource Development Minister, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi who was a close associate of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya said that he was a great advocate of public morality and believed that cultural nationalism should be the basis of nationhood. Dr. Joshi said Panditji was above the petty considerations of caste, religion and politics and believed in absolute humanism. He advocated that entire world was a family and not a market, Dr. Joshi said. He said it was Panditji and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia who said that Indian and Pakistan should from a confederation.

The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Ramesh Bais who also addressed the gathering said that the Publications Division is bringing out biographies of great personalities. The author of the biography Dr. Mahesh Chander Sharma said that it was very difficult of do justice to the life and works of Panditji in a small book.
