NEW URANIUM MINES OPENED UP
The Ministry of Rural Development
has released Rs.124.84 Crore to Orissa for construction of over
2 lakh houses under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) in 8 cyclone-hit
districts of the state. The amount is towards the first instalment
during the year 2002-03.
The state had been sanctioned
additional 4 lakh houses under IAY for the cyclone hit areas.
The present amount released is towards the balance 2 lakh houses.

The grant is towards the plan expenditure and
will be utilized for construction of new houses and upgradation
of kutcha houses into pucca houses. The expenditure on the implementation
of the programme is to be shared on 75:25 basis between the Centre
and the State respectively. The State Government should release
its share within a month of the date of release of the Central
assistance. The State Government has be advised to submit the
proposal for release of next instalment after utilizing 60% of
the available resources. The permissible cost ceiling per dwelling
unit is Rs.22000.
