HSCC DECLARED A MINI RATNA COMPANY


Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Shatrughan Sinha today declared Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation (I) Ltd. (HSCC) a Mini Ratna Company based on the performance of the company as per Government guidelines.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that HSCC, over the years, has developed, into an unique institution not only in India but in South East Asia and is today capable of providing top class consultancy services in the health care sector including design and construction of world class hospitals, medical colleges, laboratories etc. It has secured an increase in turnover from about Rs. 7 crore in the year 1997-98 to about Rs. 25 crore this year. The profits generated by HSCC are also increasing every year and besides generating sizeable wealth through reserves and surpluses, it has also contributed to the public exchequer through corporate and other taxes.

The use of drugs is one of the major areas affecting the health of our public especially the youth. The creation of a Drug-Deaddiction Centre at Ghaziabad by HSCC is a highly commendable job, the Minister said. He also complimented that HSCC is helping the government’s effort in developing the Indian systems of medicine on the scientific pattern in order to maximize their impact on our society.

During the ceremony, Shri A. Kumar, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the company presented a cheque of Rs. 210 lakh to the Minister towards, 525% dividend for the year 2001-02. This is the highest dividend ever paid by the company since its inception in 1983.

HSCC an ISO-9001 company is providing consultancy services for development of healthcare infrastructure viz. hospitals, medical colleges, bio-safety laboratories of global standards. Some of the major projects which HSCC is implementing are Trauma Centres at AIIMS and RML at Delhi, National Institute of Biologicals at Noida, National Institute of Yoga at Delhi, National Institute of Unani Medicines at Bangalore & Siddha at Chennai, 500 beds hospital & medical college at Shillong.
