NOD TO SIPAT SUPER TPS STAGE II
Central Electricity Authority has accorded
techno economic clearance to 660 MW Sipat Super Thermal Power
Station Stage-II in Chattisgarh to be set up by National Thermal
Power Corporation (NTPC) at an estimated current cost of Rs.2530
crore including interest during construction and financing charges.
The 3X660 MW Stage I of Sipat Super TPS was given CEA clearance
in January 2000. All the four steam turbine driven generating
units will use state of the art super critical boiler technology
to achieve better efficiency. The project has been appraised by
CEA on current cost basis. Like Stage I of the project, coal requirement
for Stage II shall also be met from Dipka and Kushmunda mines
of South Eastern Coal Ltd. Which are located in near vicinity.
Synchronisation of the project has been planned by March 2007.
The power generated would benefit the Western Region viz. Madhya
Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and
Diu and Goa. NTPC would finance the project with 30% equity from
their internal resources and balance 70 per cent funds will be
raised as debt in Indian Rupees and US dollars. Both the debt
packages proposed by NTPC will be repayable after seven years
in bullet form.
