IN OIL FIELDS DECLARED AS PUBLIC UTILITY SERVICE FOR SIX MONTHS
The Services in the
Oil Fields have been declared as public utility service for six
months with immediate effect. The Labour Ministry in a notification
issued here today said that this has been done in the public interest.
The employees working
in Oil Fields, as a result, would among other things be required
to give notice to their employer six weeks in advance of proceeding
on strike to facilitate initiation of conciliatory proceedings.
During the conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their
completion, the employees cannot go on strike in these establishments.
