MODERNISATION
OF COMPANY REGISTRAR OFFICES
The Department
of Company Affairs (DCA) has planned to modernize and overhaul
the functioning of the Registrar of Companies (ROC) offices. In
this connection, it has undertaken computerization of these offices
and plans to provide most of routine services online on the internet.
It would, thus, reduce greatly the need for companies and others
to visit physically the offices of ROC. This would also lead to
immense savings of time and cost for the corporate sector and
the professions.
The
DCA has secured plan funds to cover the costs of this project,
for the first time.
The
decision to modernize and computerize ROC offices follows earlier
decision of the Government to synchronize the workings of the
Companies Act, 1956 with the Information Technology Act, 2000.
