RS. 47.54 CRORE RELEASED TO RAJASTHAN FOR RURAL DRINKING WATER
The Ministry of Rural
Development has released Rs. 47.54 Crore for rural drinking water
to Rajasthan. The funds are for centrally sponsored Accelerated
Rural Water Supply Programme under Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking
Water Mission (RGNDWM) during the year 2002-03. With this, Rs.
103.65 Crore stands released as first installment under ARWSP
to Rajasthan.
The funds are meant for
execution/completion of schemes to provide safe drinking water
facilities to rural habitations and schools under the centrally
sponsored ARWSP. Priority shall be accorded to cover Not Covered
(NC), Partially Covered (PC) and water quality affected habitations
of the State. As per targets fixed for the current year the government
of Rajasthan has to cover 1895 Not Covered and 9105 Partially
Covered habitations in addition to the coverage of 2500 schools.
These targets should be met out of the funds released under ARWSP
and the matching State resources.
The Ministry has also
released Rs. 42.69 lakh under RGNDWM for Information, Education
and Communication (IEC) activities in four districts in Rajasthan
during 2002-03. The Districts are: Dholpur Bundi, Jhalwar and
Sirohi.
