RESULTS FOR AIEEE-2002 DECLARED

The National Highways Authority of India has drawn up plans to collect toll on National Highway-5 and on other National Highway Sections upgraded to 4-lane facilities. The user fee is charged in accordance with the rates per km notified by the Government for various categories of vehicles under the National Highways (Rates of Fee) Rules, 1997. These capping rates per km were notified at 1997 price levels and are linked to whole sale price index for the year, for deciding the fee rate for NH sections.

Similar fee rates are being charged on Panipat-Jalandhar section of National Highway-1 in the States of Haryana and Punjab, Delhi-Agra section of NH-2 in Uttar Pradesh, Palsit-Dhankuni section of NH-2 in West Bengal, Barwa Adda-Panagarh section of NH-2 in Bihar and West Bengal, Bhubaneswar-Jagatpur sectin of NH-5 in Orissa, Vadodara-Surat section of NH-8 in Gujarat, Gurgaon-Amer section of NH-8 in Haryana and Rajasthan and Moradabad bypass on NH-24 in U.P. Besides, user fee is also being charged by NHAI for the bridges in the State of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra at uniform rates for various categories of vehicles.

The National Highways Authority of India keeps on receiving representations regarding levy or quantum of fee from individuals and transporters, etc. These representations are duly considered and suitable replies sent.
