WINS TWO SILVER AND FOUR BRONZE MEDALS IN THE RECENTLY CONCLUDED
4TH ASIAN YOUTH (BOYS & GIRLS) UNDER 16 YEARS WEIGHT LIFTING COMPETITION
HELD AT PATTAYA, THAILAND
India has won two Silver and four Bronze Medals
in the recently concluded 4th Asian Youth (Boys &
Girls) under 16 years Weight Lifting Competition held at Pattaya,
Thailand.
The Competition was held from 17-21st
July , 2002. Miss N. Thoniu Devi won two Bronze medals in 48 Kg.
Category, Ms. Renu Bala won one Bronze and 2 Silver medals in
58 Kg. and Ms. Subhangi Karande was the winner with one Bronze
medal in 53 Kg. Category.
The delegation of players and coaches today called
on the Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports Shri Pon.
Radhakrishnan. Praising the performance of Indian delegation,
the Minister assured their coaches of all help for the training
of weight lifters. The delegation included Miss N. Thoniu Devi,
Ms. Shubhangi Karande, Ms. Renubala Chanu, Ms.Seeta Kumari Jena
and Mr. G. Nagaraju. This is the second time India participated
in the Tournament, first being in 2000.
