DAMAGES RATE DOUBLED FOR UNAUTHORISED OCCUPATION OF GOVERNMENT ACCOMMODATION

The damages rate for unauthorized occupation of general pool residential accommodation has been doubled of the existing rate in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad. The revised damages rate for type I to type IV quarters has been enhanced from Rs. 75 per sq. mt. to Rs. 150 per sq. mt. of living area of the quarter. For type V and above houses the damages rate has been revised from Rs. 110 per sq. mt. to Rs. 220 per sq. mt. Similarly, in other Regional Offices, the damages rate has been doubled of the existing rates. The revised rates of damages have come into effect from May 1, 2002.

In respect of departmental pools of accommodation in Delhi and other stations, the rates of damages prescribed for General Pool accommodation have to be adopted by various other Ministries and Departments. Similar rates of damages are to be worked out by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for other stations where General Pool Accommodation is available and the rates so assessed are to be adopted for recovery of damages not only in respect of General Pool residential accommodation at that station but also in respect of departmental pool accommodation in these stations.
