LOK SABHA
The Government have
provided mechanised coal handling facilities in Paradip Port during
Ninth Plan. The work related to the coal handling facilities have
since been completed. The total expenditure till date on the project
is approximately Rs. 799.52 crores.
Development of the
port and creation of additional cargo handling facilities is an
ongoing process keeping in view the maritime traffic. However,
an outlay of Rs. 222.70 crores has been included in the Tenth
Five Year Plan for spill over, ongoing and new schemes of Paradip
Port which is mainly for facilitating cargo handling.
This information
was given by Shri Su. Thirunavukkarasar, Minister of State for
Shipping in a written reply to a question by Shri Ananta Nayak
in Lok Sabha today.
