Under the Centrally
Sponsored Scheme of Infrastructural Development in Mega Cities,
five Mega cities viz. Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and
Mumbai are provided funds for infrastructural development by the
Central and State Governments in the ratio of 25:25 and the balance
is met from institutional finance. At present Rs. 1050.00 crore
have been earmarked for the scheme during the 10th Plan. There
has been a proposal to extend the scheme to cover all million
plus cities, except Delhi, as per 2001 census.
Shri O. Rajagopal,
Minister of State for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation,
gave this information in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
