The President Dr.
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has expressed his profound grief over the passing
away of Shri Nani Palkhivala, an eminent jurist and statesman
yesterday.
In a condolence message
to his nephew, the President said, "I am saddened to learn
about the passing away of your uncle Shri Nani Palkhivala yesterday.
He was a great human being with indomitable spirit, compassion,
eminent scholar, an extraordinary jurist and a prolific writer.
He epitomizes the civilisational heritage of India which emphasizes
unity of mind and universal spirit. In his passing away, we have
lost a guiding spirit. I knew him personally and interacted with
him on a number of issues ranging from implementation of vision
of developed India to emergence of India as a knowledge superpower.
Even while giving invaluable advice his sense of humour was remarkable.
I will miss him."
