SHRI K.C.MISRA ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAIN DEVELOPMENT CENTRE


Shri K.C. Misra, Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Forests has been elected as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). The election was held at the Board’s meeting at the Centre’s headquarters, Kathmandu on December 11, 2002.

ICIMOD, established in 1983 is engaged in development of economically and environmentally sound mountain eco-systems in the Hindu Kush Himalayas. The Centre is the focal point for problem solving research besides providing expert advisory services. It also serves as a multidisciplinary documentation and information exchange center in respect of mountain issues and technologies.

India, China, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Afghanistan are the members of ICIMOD.
