LOK SABHA
The Government has
received many complaints from Members of Parliament that quality
of works undertaken by District Heads under the Members of Parliament
Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) are not up to the mark.
The State Governments
and the District Collectors have been advised from time to time
to take all possible steps to ensure the quality of works executed
under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme.
As and when a specific complaint of poor quality of works under
the Scheme is brought to the notice of the Government, the District
Collector and the State Government concerned are requested to
investigate and take immediate corrective measures.
The Central Vigilance
Commission (C.V.C) was also requested to investigate a complaint
regarding poor quality of the MPLADS works in the Sheikhpura District
of Bihar. As the jurisdiction of the C.V.C. does not extend to
the State Governments, the C.V.C. has requested the State Government
of Bihar to investigate the matter and submit a report to the
Commission.
The implementation
of MPLAD Scheme is monitored at the District level, the State
level and the Central Government level to ensure that MPLADS funds
are utilized for development projects on the recommendations of
the Hon’ble MPs and in accordance with the Guidelines on MPLADS.
This information
was given in the Lok Sabha today by the Minister of State for
Statistics & Programme Implementation shri Vijay Goel in the
written reply to a question by Shri J.S.Brar and Shri Dilipkumar
Mansukhlal Gandhi.
