RAILWAYS MEASURES FOR MINIMISING LEAKAGE OF REVENUE

LOK SABHA

The Railways are taking continuous steps for technological upgradation as well as intensive physical checkings to stop leakage of revenue. Physical checks are carried out involving a large number of Commercial, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel as well as personnel from other departments like Vigilance. The presence of force is essential in most of the ticket checking drives as a support. Test checks on weight of the luggage booked as well as unbooked luggage are also carried out during these raids. Regular train checking is also done by ticket checking staff manning the train. In these checks, senior officers of the Railways including the Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) and above participate. Immediate action is taken on information received about leakage of Railway revenue from citizen.

This information was given by Shri Bandaru Dattattraya, Minister of State for Railways in a written reply to a question by Shri Sheesh Ram Singh Ravi in the Lok Sabha today.
